The Passat took a shit last night.

(Pictured - not ours, but a British Passat with Bentley wheels)

Went to make a visit to a friend, stayed a few minutes, and then when I went to back out of the driveway, I heard a loud clunk and then a nasty whirring, grinding sound. Then the car started to roll forward. I hit the brake, set the parking brake, and then put it in park. It made a noise similar to when you throw a vehicle in park while rolling. Then when the engine is on, in any gear, it just makes a whirring, grinding noise that cycles louder and softer. If you rev the engine, it becomes a crescendo of what I presume to be mechanical destruction of the internal parts of the transmission.

Now we have to call the dealer and hassle around with the warranty people. At least it isn't going to be $3-4000 out of our pockets. Because we don't have it.
